A photographic and literary competition for volunteers – “European Voluntary Service – Never-Ending Story”

Have you worked as an EVS volunteer? Have you learnt a new language or improved your skills? Or maybe  participation in an EVS project has shown you how you want to lead your life? Want a fascinating adventure and new friends in the Azores?

Share your impressions with other young people who have never had the chance to participate in, or to learn about, the European Voluntary Service, within the “Youth in Action” Programme. The Polish National Agency of the “Youth in Action” Programme is now announcing a competition for journalistic and photo reportage from an EVS project already implemented, or currently under implementation, within the “Youth in Action” Programme.

AIM

The aim of the competition is not only to foster the photographic and/or literary talents of EVS volunteers, but also to present the idea of the European Voluntary Service from the perspective of a Programme participant, to draw social attention to the undertaking based on voluntary service and international cooperation, and – especially – to thank the European volunteers for their involvement.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The competition is aimed at current and former EVS volunteers, both Polish and foreign, who are willing to submit their competition works.

HOW?

Every former or current volunteer may submit any number of literary and/or photographic works for one or more of the following themes.

Literary form: diary, reportage, letter.

A. I TRAVEL, THEREFORE I AM… i.e. mobility (advantages of travelling, new opportunities, perspective change, crossing our own limits…)

B. I EXPERIENCE LEARNING… i.e. competence (personal development, skills, abilities, acquisition of knowledge and experience)

C. AMONG OTHERS… i.e. interculturality (life and work in other culture/cultures)

You can submit your competition works either via e-mail at: wolontariat-konkurs@frse.org.pl, or by post, recorded on a CD, at the following address: Fundacja Rozwoju Systemu Edukacji, Program "Młodzież w działaniu" -  Akcja 2,  ul. Mokotowska 43, 00-551 Warszawa. You are required to attach a completed Application Form.

WHEN?

The deadline for submitting your competition works is  23 May 2010. All works must be sent together with a completed Application Form.

CONCLUSION

Final results will be announced through the competition website on 7 June 2010. Authors of the best works will receive attractive multimedia prizes – mp3 players and cameras.

All winners will be invited to participate in the conference organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System in December 2010, concerning voluntary service. The best works and other selected works will also be included in the publication of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System concerning the European Voluntary Service.
